
DeWitt began her stage career at 13 years old. DeWitt earned her degree from Ball State University with a Bachelor's of Arts. In the following year, as she was performing in summer stock when she met with the director, she convinced her to attend UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program,where she was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship in addition to the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt said that she had not ever met Abe Vigoda during her time at UCLA. DeWitt is best known for her performance in Three's Company's 1977-1984 run as Janet Wood. This was the first job she had after being cast in the second pilot. She also played Janet in an episode in 1979 from the spinoff show The Ropers. DeWitt began her acting career in an episode in 1984 of Three's Company. She made her return to the stage in June of 1991 when she appeared on an Noises Off production at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. [1] Later she appeared on the TV comedy Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain featured the character an adaptation of her voice voice that was voiced by another actress in 1997. She was featured in an episode of Cybill. Her 2000s work include television shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special and Call of the Wild.
